the service

in short: one Snip a day. it seals at midnight and can never be deleted — only hidden. know this before you start.

The Service lets you capture one moment per day — a Snip: a photo or a short video. At the end of its day a Snip seals permanently: it cannot be edited or deleted afterwards, by you or by us, for as long as your account exists. This is the core design of the product, not a limitation we plan to lift. What you keep forever is control over who sees each Snip — you can make any Snip private at any time — and you can delete your entire account, which removes everything. By using the Service you acknowledge and accept this permanence.

The Service is free of charge. There are currently no paid features, subscriptions, or advertising.

who can use snips

in short: 13 or older; under 18 needs a parent's ok.

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed these terms and agrees to them on your behalf. We may close accounts that do not meet these requirements.

your account

in short: sign in with Apple or Google, keep your account to yourself, and tell us if something looks wrong.

You sign in with an Apple or Google account and are responsible for activity that happens under your snips account. Keep access to your sign-in provider secure, use the Service only for yourself, and let us know at hello@snips.so if you suspect unauthorized use. You may have one account, and you may not sell or transfer it.

your content

in short: your Snips are yours. you give us only the permission needed to store and show them to the audience you picked.

You own your Snips and everything you create on the Service. So that the Service can function, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, process, and display your content — strictly as needed to operate the Service and only for the audience you have chosen for each Snip. We claim no other rights: we will not sell your content, license it to others, or use it in marketing without your explicit permission. The license for a piece of content ends when it leaves the Service — which, given how Snips work, means when your account is deleted.

You are responsible for what you capture and share. You confirm that you have the necessary rights to your content and that sharing it does not violate anyone else's rights or any law.

the public globe

in short: sharing to the globe means anyone can see it for that day. it gets reviewed first, and strangers can like it anonymously.

Placing a Snip on the public globe makes it visible to anyone — in the app and on the website, with or without an account — for the calendar day it belongs to, along with your display name, your note, and a deliberately blurred location. Public submissions pass through the moderation described below before going live, and anyone may react to them anonymously. Although globe visibility lasts one day, you understand that public content can be seen, screenshotted, or copied by others while visible.

acceptable use

in short: don't post what would hurt people, don't spam, don't break in, don't pretend to be someone else.

On the Service, you may not:

• post content that is illegal, sexually exploitative (above all, anything involving minors), threatening, harassing, hateful, or that incites violence;
• post content that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark, privacy, or other rights — including photos of identifiable people shared publicly against their wishes;
• use the public globe for advertising, spam, link distribution, or other commercial solicitation;
• impersonate any person or misrepresent who you are;
• probe, scrape, overload, reverse engineer, or otherwise interfere with the Service or its security, or access it by any means other than the app and website we provide;
• attempt to bypass moderation, audience controls, or the one-Snip-per-day design.

moderation and enforcement

in short: public Snips are screened — automatically, then by a human when unclear. break the rules and you lose the globe, or the account.

Every Snip submitted to the public globe is screened by an automated pipeline, with human review for borderline cases, as described in the privacy policy. We may decline or remove a Snip's public exposure (the Snip itself remains yours and untouched), restrict accounts that repeatedly violate these terms, and suspend or terminate accounts for serious or repeated violations. Where the law requires it, we report content indicating child sexual abuse to the relevant authorities. If you believe content on the public globe infringes your rights, email hello@snips.so with a link or screenshot and an explanation, and we will review it promptly.

our rights in the service

in short: the app, the site, and the snips brand are ours; you get a personal license to use the app.

Other than your content, the Service — its software, design, wordmark, and everything else that makes it up — belongs to us or our licensors. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the app on devices you own, for your personal, non-commercial use. The app includes open-source components, which remain governed by their own licenses.

If you send us feedback or suggestions, you agree we may use them freely, without obligation or compensation — and with our thanks.

app stores

in short: Apple's and Google's own store rules also apply to the copy you downloaded.

You receive the app through the Apple App Store or Google Play, and their terms apply to the download in addition to these. Apple and Google are not parties to these terms, have no obligation to provide support or maintenance for the app, and are not responsible for it; to the extent their policies require, they may enforce these terms as a third-party beneficiary.

changes, suspension, and goodbye

in short: we may evolve or wind down the service; if it ever shuts down, you'll get notice and time to export your Snips.

We may change the Service, add or remove features, or — as a personal project — suspend or discontinue it. If we ever discontinue the Service entirely, we will make reasonable efforts to give you advance notice and a window to export your Snips. You can stop using the Service at any time and delete your account as described in the privacy policy; we may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with notice where practicable.

We may also revise these terms. For material changes we will give notice in the app or by email before they take effect; continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the revised terms.

disclaimers

in short: a free, one-person project comes as-is. please also keep your own copies of moments you can't lose.

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that content will never be lost. Your photos and videos matter; we work hard to keep them safe, but for moments you cannot afford to lose, keep your own copies too (your camera roll keeps every capture unless you choose otherwise).

limitation of liability

in short: for a free service, our financial responsibility is capped at $100, except where the law says it can't be.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to the Service — and our total liability for all claims will not exceed USD $100, reflecting that the Service is provided free of charge. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including liability for willful misconduct, or affects statutory consumer rights that apply where you live.

indemnification

in short: if your misuse of snips gets us sued, that's on you.

You agree to defend and hold us harmless from claims, damages, and reasonable expenses (including legal fees) arising from content you share or from your violation of these terms or of someone else's rights — except to the extent the claim results from our own fault.

governing law

in short: Israeli law, Tel Aviv courts.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that we cannot resolve together informally — please try hello@snips.so first — will be brought exclusively in the competent courts of Tel Aviv–Jaffa, Israel. Mandatory consumer-protection law of your country of residence remains unaffected where it applies.

the fine print

in short: standard housekeeping: these terms are the whole deal, and one bad clause doesn't sink the rest.

These terms and the privacy policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Not enforcing a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these terms; we may assign them to a successor of the project (for example, if it becomes or joins a company), and we would notify you if that happens.
